Katharina Frogner Kockum is a much coveted singer, at home as well as abroad. She is currently completing her Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, the Norwegian Academy of Music, the Oslo Academy of Arts, and IVAI (the International Vocal Art Institute), New York. Hailing from Dalarna in Sweden, she made her debut at the age of 19 with "Magnolia i Showboat" and "Marit i Himlaspelet".
Following the success of the Norwegian opera "I Canselliraadets dager" at Ringsakersoperaen, she has been cast in the role of the princess Sicle in this autumn's performance of the Baroque opera "L'Ormindo" by Cavalli. This will also serve as her examination performance.
Her recent performances include the roles of Rosalinde in "Fledermauss" and Tatiana in "Eugen O Negin", as well as several concerts with pianist Helge Kjekshus and lutist Rolf Lislevand. This June, she will be starring in "Rheingold,Wagner" at the DNO.
By virtue of her lucid and straightforward expression, Katharina has become a popular soloist and performer, spanning such varied vocal styles as opera, church and romantic music. She has collaborated with a number of prominent musicians and conductors, and has in recent years starred in a large number of concerts in the Baroque genre.
Katharina is furthermore an active communicator and singer-composer, and functions as art director for the Slemmestad Water Music Festival.
